Our entry-level doctorate and master's programs feature a hybrid learning format which combines online coursework with once-weekly, on-campus meetings, providing flexibility for both traditional and non-traditional students. You’ll gain additional experience through faculty-directed experiential learning and apply these experiences to the classroom and online learning environments.
You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience through extensive fieldwork experiences. Fieldwork is a crucial part of the curriculum. Such experiences provide role modeling and supervised hands-on opportunities to apply occupational therapy knowledge in real practice. Fieldwork takes place in a variety of settings and emerging areas of practice.
Shenandoah University and the OT programs pride ourselves on our international opportunities for experiential learning. We regularly engage in trips abroad to places such as Haiti and Morocco for course credit. We are always open to new opportunities for expanding our collaborations abroad.
Our nationally recognized occupational therapy program offers several degree pathways at two campus locations as well as online. You can study with us in the scenic and historic Shenandoah Valley, immerse yourself in the dynamic, urban lifestyle of Northern Virginia, near Washington, D.C., or learn from the comfort of your own home.
The faculty in the Shenandoah University occupational therapy program are experienced and skilled experts in a variety of areas of occupational therapy practice including pediatric and adult physical dysfunction, mental health, and hand therapy. Faculty continue to practice in their area of interest to maintain clinical competency.
